We are delighted to announce Maxim Facilities Management has secured the contract to provide cleaning services for Hitachi Rail Europe’s brand new £82 million Rail Vehicle Manufacturing Facility.
Hitachi Rail’s new manufacturing and assembly plant is located in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham. The facility was officially opened on the 3rd September 2015 and welcomed over 500 guests to its opening ceremony. It will support the DfT-led Intercity Express Programme and future Hitachi Rail projects.
The site itself measures over 127,000m2 and has created over 700 jobs. The factory will be able to manufacture 35 vehicles each month and the first trains to enter service will be in 2017 on the Great Western Main Line.
Maxim started providing services for Hitachi back in August in preparation for the grand opening, which was attended by David Cameron and George Osborne. We have already received excellent feedback from Project Manager Benjamin Mawby, who had this to say:

Being a brand new business in the North East, we have received had a lot of ‘expressions of interest’ from many service providers, therefore the competition was tough! From the day we met Maxim, they have been very professional, helpful and they continue to provide an exemplary service. Additionally, Maxim provided further support during our grand opening in September 2015 when the Prime Minister and Chancellor of Exchequer opened our facility. As a final point, we very much look forward to Maxim continuing to prosper and grow with Hitachi Rail Europe as we enter a very exciting and challenging business period.
Maxim fought off national competition to win the contract in a very competitive tender situation, and we look forward to working with Hitachi and providing a continuing excellent service.
